A PROGRAM DETICATED TO THE MUSIC AND THE SOUND CREATED BY STAN GETZ
The program touches upon Getz‟s best creations; his famed Bossa Nova period in collaboration with A.C. Jobim in the early 60‟s, his notable pairing with Jimmy Rowles in their 1977 album „The Peacocks‟, as well as joining Kenny Barron in his last album “People Time” 1991.
Peter Cheslie (Piotr Cieslikowski) is a leading Polish tenor saxophonist who recently relocated to Toronto. In his career he performed with such jazz greats as Scott Hamilton, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Mark Whitfield, Ronnie Cuber.
If ever heard Peter play, the first thing that would come into your mind would be: “Gee, he does sound a lot like Stan Getz”.
That resemblance was an obvious reason that gave Peter the idea of making the tribute to the legacy of Stan Getz.
